Bento #1

I’ve been bringing lunches to work to save money and eat a little better. One thing I’ve decided to do to make it fun is to pack bentos as often as I can. I’ve had this Mr. Bento for a while, but never thought to share what I was bringing. I really like it, and it’s a great way to force more appropriate portion sizes. To make it more useful, I just went and picked up silicone baking cups to use as dividers and condiment cups. Hopefully I’ll come up with lots of lunches to share. Ordering bento boxes and supplies online is really cheap and will fit easily into my budget, so they may even get cuter as time goes on.

1 serving miso-cup
1 cup vegetable fried rice (recipe here)
1/2 cup nonfat yogurt
1/4 cup frozen berries
4 oz carrots
2 tbsp kraft free ranch

I started to bento for the same reasons, and its really addictive! definately makes lunch more satisfying, i think. Supplies can be cheap, but it depends on where you get them from. the flickr bento box group has a lot of good suggestions.
